The big, towering trees in Gwana Park will remind you of the place's antiquity. Remnants of government offices of the Joseon Dynasty give testament to the site's former function, as a government seat; the Chengnyeongheon, as an outer office, the Jegeumdang as inner office, alongside remains of the Sangosucheonggak's Soteulsammun.

Hoamji Lake

What used to be a milk-line for citizens of the central Chungju Basin, or 'Dalcheon Plain,' is now a virtual amusement park for Chungju citizens. Hoamji, a man-made reservoir 254 hectares in area, with 10m banks holding a million tons fo water along 255m, is beloved by all Chungju citizens.

Local Monument No. 4 / San 1-1, Chilgeum-dong, Chungju Tangeumdae Park is a place of music, tragedy, and celebration. The park is located one kilometer from where the Namhangang River meets the Dalcheongang River, about 200m above sea level. It has smooth features and lush pines dating back to the Three Kingdoms, and earthen ramparts built in that period.
Its musical appellation "Tangeundae" comes from the days of the Silla King Jinheung, when and where Sir Wooreuk played his traditional twelve-string Gayageum harp. Tangeundae was later theater to the tragic battle of Imjinweran, where General Sin Rip lost out to Japanese forces. Today, the park is a monument to celebration and history. Near the gate are the Chungju Cultural Center and an outdoor bandstand. Along the park's path, among its pavilions and pagodas, stand monuments to General Sin Rip and to Gamjakkot Noraebi of Gwon Taeeoung, a writer of juvenile stories.

Taekgyeon Training Center

586, Hoam-dong, Chungju This martial art has existed along with Korea for 5000 years. It is an art of pleasant and romantic movement. Although it is registered as an important cultural property, there were no decent Taekgyeon studios at which to learn or train. This hall was designed and constructed to inherit and preserve the original martial skills of this traditional martial art and to transmit it to coming generations. It is now the world capital of Taekgyeon.
