◎ World sports event as popular as the Olympic Games
    - 36th Championships (in Munich) this year since 1962 (in Lausanne, Switzerland); about 80 countries participated in the event
    - About 300 million people watched the game on TV in Europe and the Americas

◎ FISA is targeting to expand rowing all over the world; the World Rowing Championships has been held in non-European countries
    - The World Rowing Championships was held in Japan in 2005 and is slated to be held in New Zealand in 2010.
