Symbolizes the Chungju citizens’ ambition to reach out to the world with pride as the center of the Korean peninsula

The white background in the middle represents the Korean peninsula, where white-clad people live, and the red globe stands for the Chungju citizens’ progressive spirit that seeks to reach out to the world with pride as the center of Korea. The green and blue pattern is designed based on the Taegeuk symbol. The harmony between C and J symbolizes the rural and urban areas, and the scenic mountains and clean water of Chungju. In sum, the city flag symbolizes the Chungju citizens’ future- and world-oriented spirit, with its infinite growth potential. ‘Chung’ literally means ‘a center,’ which symbolizes the dynamic Chungju that seeks to become the center of the world and of the Korean peninsula. Therefore, the city flag is named Jungsimgi.

City Flower: Chrysanthemum

The noble character and integrity of the chrysanthemum, which blooms despite the autumn frost, symbolize the city of loyalty and the Chungju citizens’ high spirit

City Bird: Mandarin Duck

The mandarin ducks that live in Chungjuho Lake represent the harmony among and the happiness of the Chungju citizens.

City Tree: Apple Tree

The apple tree, which blooms with bright-pink flowers in spring and bears scarlet apples in autumn, symbolizes the endurance and sincerity of the Chungju citizens.
